Greeting ASIS Phoenix Chapter Members!

As our chapter enters the year 2020, I would first like to thank the many committee chairs, volunteers, participants and sponsors that made 2019 such a success. Moving into 2020 we look forward to providing a line-up of great speakers at our bi-monthly meetings, with the first taking place on February, 20, 2020. We will continue to meet in The Gladly’s elegant Whiskey Room for a happy setting and enjoy their signature appetizers and hear from some very compelling security practitioners and researchers. We also look forward to working with our resurging Eagle Chapter at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Twenty of their students attended the 2019 Southwest Security Conference helping to make the event as much multigenerational as it was multidisciplinary.

Our committee chairs are busily coordinating this year’s events, outings and community service projects and the website will be updated with hold the dates and additional details as they become available. Speaking of the website, you can expect to see a new look launched in the coming months. Our platform software providers offered some new layout designs that we had hoped to have up and running by now, but due to high demand, support for the transition is backlogged. Our new webmaster, Max Laios, is working diligently on the transition as well as some of the great graphic art you may have noticed on our announcements and invitations. Additionally, you will see that our payment portal has switched from PayPal and now routes directly to our financial institution.

I would also like to welcome aboard our newest board member, Dan Hermann, who was elected to the position of Chapter Secretary. We have also had a change at the regional level. Our long-time ASIS International Regional Vice-President, Dave Toon, has decided to take a well-deserved breather and pass those duties on to Jordan Cote. Many of you know Jordan as the immediate past Chapter Chair and a vigorous advocate of all things ASIS. We thank Dave for the work he has done with the Chapter, the Region and the prestige he has earned with ASIS International that reflects so positively upon us all.

Thank you again for your support in 2019. We invite you to  join us this year to take advantage of the many social activities, professional development opportunities and community service events we have lined up for 2020.
