Previous Chapter Chairs - Barbara Hill

Barbara Hill was born and raised in Arizona, a 3rd generation Arizonian. I have 2 children, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons, plus 2 children by marriage and 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. I attended Phoenix College and ASU.
I was divorced and raised my 2 children by myself so my career came by the way of hard knocks. It started with Wood Brothers Homes in Tucson where I was the Production manager. Moved back to Phoenix after the divorce and worked for MGC Construction as the Contract Administrator. Left MGC to go to work for Walding Electric as an estimator. When they joined the Union, it slowed down the work and I left to go to Nelson Holland in their Electronics division as a sales representative. After a wonderful experience at Nelson Holland, I left to go to CardKey Systems as the Manufactures Representative covering 5 states. That was a wonderful experience but the traveling with 2 children was difficult, so I was hired at Pinkerton’s Electronic division as a Sales Representative and estimator. Many years later the Guard side of Pinkerton convinced me to make a switch to that side of the business. Later Pinkerton was purchased by Securitas, and I remained at Securitas as an Account Representative until I retired.
Along the way I got married to a wonderful man that has made my life complete. We are both retired and spend our time golfing, working on our property here and in Khols Ranch. I took up watercolor when I retired and have participated in several shows with the Sonoran Art League and have been very successful as an artist.
I paint all types of watercolor. I loves nature, birds and abstract. I love to experiment with Yupo paper and see how the colors mix and what wonderful images can be achieved.
I believe watercolor is not judged by technique, subject or composition but all aspects come into play when determining whether a painting is successful or not.
