As I assume the duties as chairwoman of the ASIS Phoenix Chapter, I want to first
thank the membership for demonstrating its confidence in me and the new
Executive Board by entrusting us with the reins of such a dynamic organization. I
offer my congratulations to Vice Chair, Scott Carter, Treasurer, Stephanie Switz
and Secretary, Detective Dan Herman, CPP, CTM. I look forward to a productive
and satisfying relationship with all of you.

Great structures are built on solid foundations and I would be remiss if I did not
express our extreme gratitude to former Chair Rich Wilson, CPP and the previous
Executive Board for their stewardship of our Chapter. With the help of the
membership, we will build upon a solid legacy of accomplishment passed on to us
by the previous Board.

I also want to thank my family at Blackstone Security Services, Inc.® for their
enthusiastic support of my efforts with ASIS. Dan Swindall, Jeanne Croft, Mike Q,

COVID-19 had a chilling effect on us all during 2020, but we made it through the
year and our outlook for 2021 is as positive as we want it to be. You are aware
that measures have already been initiated to ensure Chapter business is
conducted despite the social distancing restrictions placed on large gatherings.
Our in-person meetings at The Gladly have been interrupted, but our gratitude to
The Gladly Management Team is perpetual and we look forward to resuming our
meetings there when the coronavirus has passed.

In the interim, here are our contingencies for 2021:

LinkedIn: The Phoenix ASIS LinkedIn Page has been created, so you may follow us
our for updates.

Chapter Meetings: Chapter meetings, moved to a virtual format online, will be
held on Zoom, on the third Thursday of each month. We will resume in-person
meetings when it has been declared safe to do so.

Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon: Law Enforcement remains constant
even in the face of a health alert and so does our gratitude, this event will be held
via Zoom on March 26 th , 2021. The LEAL Committee has worked tirelessly to
ensure that our law enforcement community will continue to be recognized
despite the current challenging conditions. Committee members have analyzed
potential contingencies and worked with our sponsors to develop creative options
to employ as conditions allow.

ASIS 2021 Charity Golf Tournament: The date for this event is April 23rd, 2021 at
Silverado Golf Club, 7605 East Indian Bend Road in Scottsdale, Arizona. We
welcome the support this year of the Arizona Private Security Professionals’
Association (APSPA) as a co-sponsor of this event. The beneficiary of our
Community Charity Initiative, the Sojourner Center, is experiencing record
demand for its services and we hope to bring in record donations. The planning
committee is stacked with passionate advocates for the Center and they are
working tirelessly to make this happen.

Southwest Security Conference: This annual conference is tentatively scheduled
to take place in October. Again, we welcome the support this year of the Arizona
Private Security Professionals’ Association (APSPA) as a co-sponsor of this event.
We will have contingency plans for taking the conference online at a reduced
registration fee should circumstances dictate.

Holiday Happy Hour: Tentatively planned for December. By this time of year, we
hope to be able to enjoy the in-person company of our members, sponsors and
charities with resilience, gratitude and hopes for a healthy and prosperous 2022.
And last, but certainly not least, a sincere thanks to our generous sponsors who
signed on as annual sponsors prior to the pandemic. We hope that others will
come on board as the veil of uncertainty lifts and operations resume with some
degree of normalcy.

The ASIS Phoenix Chapter remains committed to staying connected to our
members and offering timely and valuable professional development
opportunities, especially during these trying times. To those in harm’s way, thank
you for your courage and willingness to put your health and safety at risk in the service to others.

Please stay safe and healthy everyone, better days are ahead.
We’re planning on it!
