Fall Golf Outing

ASIS Phoenix Golf Outing

The 2017 ASIS Phoenix Chapter Charity Golf Outing teed off Friday, September 15th at The Legacy Golf Club.  The course, which had nearly perfect conditions, played host to 52 golfers competing for team championship honors in a scramble format. Honors and prizes were also on the line for the longest drive, closest to the pin, and the always competitive putting contest.  All of these events were done in support of our chapter charities - Homeward Bound and the Sojourner Center.  Amy Fumes representing Homeward Bound and Carla Landwerth from Sojourner were on hand to assist with player registration and the sale of raffle tickets.  A portion of the proceeded raised from the event, the sale of raffle tickets, mulligans, the putting and chipping contests go to help support these worthy causes.

At the conclusion of play three teams tied for first place.  Each team shot a 10 under par 61.  A scorecard playoff was used to determine the winner.  The team of Terry Donnelly, Frank Payne, Jay Robertson and Ken Ohman took first place.  The team of Mike Anderson, Jordan Cunningham, John Dobradenka and Jason Stoft took second place.  The team of Randy Lehman, Kurt Luther, Craig Williams and Jason Schliching end up with third prize.

The Closest to the Pin competition, sponsored by Kerkton Securities Technologies, was won by Mike Anderson who hit the closest shot on the par 3 15th hole.  The Longest Drive contest was won by Terry Donnelly for the men.  Christina Duffey won the prize for the longest drive for the ladies.  The Putting Contest was again sponsored by VetSec Security.  The staff at The Legacy set up a challenging putt that only two golfers were able to make.  In a putt off Steve Corui won the event along with a new Ping putter as his prize.

After all the competition the players and volunteers assembled for a BBQ dinner and awards ceremony.  Prizes and trophies were awarded to the winners.   At the end we conducted a raffle which had  nearly 50 prizes.  Raffle prizes included rounds of golf, golf equipment, tickets to cultural venues and numerous gift cards.  All prizes came from generous donations from chapter members, their associates and through Sojourner Center and Homeward Bound.  The generosity of those who participated is greatly appreciated.

During the ceremonies, Jordan Cote, chair of the ASIS Phoenix Chapter announced the awards the Phoenix Chapter will receive at the annual convention.  Among those awards was the Community Service Award.  The chapter won this award because of projects the chapter had done to assist The Sojourner Center throughout the year.  The chapter will receive a check for $1000 from ASIS International to award to the Sojourner Center.

The Chapter would like to thank Whelan Security and Comfort Systems USA for their hole sponsorships at the event. Finally, thanks go out to the volunteers who made the event happen that day.  Thanks to Dave Toon, Amy Fumes and Carla Landwerth who handled registration and raffle ticket sales. Thanks to Sam Fullam and Breanna Chandler who ran the putting contest. Thanks to the staff at The Legacy Golf Club which provided a great venue and service.  Finally special thanks to Amy Naccari for all her assistance with putting on this event every year.
